Job Summary

To provide an efficient and effective professional financial service to the company that ensures that statutory obligations for sound financial management are met and maintained.

and ensure an effective, efficient and responsive financial support service to

the Business Partners and the Divisions / Departments.

Main responsibilities-Accountant job discription

To maintain accurate and meaningful financial information, in order to meet statutory requirements (including relevant Codes of Practice) and support the financial management of the company.

 

To actively manage the generation of accurate financial data to formulate management information and develop supporting systems to optimise performance and ensure effective co-ordination of expenditure against budgets, reporting on a regular basis.

 

To support the Senior Management Accountant (Revenue) in the production

of the  Monthly Financial Reporting pack(s), in accordance with the

agreed timetable. .

To hold regular meetings with assigned Business Partner to ensure a free flow of information and understanding of the financial position and best practice is adhered to.

 

To monitor expenditure of the assigned budgets, projecting future commitments and to identify and report any opportunities and risks within these significant budget groups.

 

To undertake analysis of specific areas of expenditure to ensure the company is spending within budget, checking budget monitoring forecasts submitted, and is achieving value for money.

 

To act as consultant to staff and management, providing advice and guidance on all matters relating to budgetary, financing and joint agency funded issues.

 

To take part in the annual budget preparation process, assist with the budget strategy and developing the tools to translate the company strategy, assist with collating the master budget and providing various forms of analysis to enable

the company to make appropriate decisions in line with its business plan.

It is essential that the post holder have:

 

The ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of accounting concepts and orsupported by a relevant qualification (AAT).

 

Has experience in the analysis, preparation and control of budgets and demonstrates an ability to perform pro-active budget management through research and financial modelling skills.

 

Experience of dealing with establishing the annual budget for a complex organisation.

 

Demonstrate relevant experience of the preparation of Annual Accounts for a large organisation.

 

Has an extensive knowledge of computerised accounting systems, including General Ledger, Budget Management, Purchase Order and Accounts Payable systems. Experience and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing packages.

 

Experience in managing, determining and effectively disseminating working practices, and both operational and administrative procedures with a methodical and organised approach to ensure the delivery of an effective audit of accounting and financial management system.
