Contract Accountant job description
Reporting to the General Manager for the site, with functional responsibility to the Business Unit Controller.
As a key member of the sites’ management teams, responsible for all financial, commercial and administrative matters for the site
Leading and managing the finance and administration teams for the site
Highly customer focused, to include provision of management information to tight deadlines
Ensure the team fully embraces both Operational Excellence and H&S procedures
Ensure internal controls and procedures are in place and complied with
Experience of gain sharing processes and implementation of cost saving initiatives
Optimisation of cost saving initiatives, which add profit to the customer
An experienced qualified accountant, although consideration will be given to QBE or studier
Developed numerical and literacy skills are essential, combined with ability to translate financial / commercial issues to a non-financial audience
Highly PC literate in particular with particular emphasis on advanced excel skills
Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop effective relationships within the customer and businesses
An influential and challenging individual and able to motivate and develop staff
High levels of personal drive, to both work independently and to balance the demands of a major contract
Play a lead role in the Customer review process, including preparation and presentation of commentary narrative to support management accounts
Preparation of comprehensive customer open book, closed book and gain share reporting to required timescales
Take the lead role in the preparation and agreement of customer and budgets and forecasts
Preparation of capital expenditure justifications and monitoring of performance against key contractual parameters
To be financial sponsor of site based lean projects and provide support within the continuous improvement cycle for the site
Provide decision support to the General Manager and site team
