The following are essential requirements for the post:-

• Formal Qualification HND in computer related discipline.

• Experience in voice/data network maintenance

• Experience in ACD systems and or knowledge of digital Telephone exchanges.

• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of users.

• Must be able to work without close supervision.

 

Desirable

The following are desirable requirements for the post:-

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Workstation

• Knowledge of Administering Microsoft Windows Server Environment

• Knowledge of VOIP.

 

Data & Voice Network Support Analyst Job Description

 

Installation of new network equipment in conjunction with suppliers.

 

Assist with the installation and upgrade of new LAN/WAN equipment with specific responsibility for Asset databases..

Policy and Service Development:

Implements policies for own work area and proposes changes to procedures which impact within own area.

 

Implementing policies for management of infrastructure based systems to meet both the requirements of end users and appropriate standards of accessibility, availability, reliability and efficiency.

 

Proposes changes to procedures which may affect service users accessing Organisation network services.

Financial and Physical Resources:

Responsible for Installation, repair and maintenance of physical assets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Installation and maintenance of all Uninterruptible Power Supplies systems, routers and switches used throughout the Organisation.

 

To obtain quotes from potential suppliers and make recommendations to line manager on most appropriate solutions.

 

Data & Voice Network Support Analyst Job Description

 

Human Resources:

Provide practical training in own area

 

Training to other IT staff in own subject area regarding network infrastructure diagnostic tools.

 

 

 

Monitoring of contract staff whilst on Organisation premises.

Information Resources:

Responsible for maintaining one or more information systems is a significant responsibility of this role.

 

Maintaining the network infrastructure including routers, switches and firewalls.

 

Maintenance of voice and data cabling infrastructure.

 

Maintenance of local and wide area networks.

 

Maintain of network infrastructure documentation.

Research and Development:

Regularly undertake equipment testing, adaptation.

Evaluate new software and hardware and advise on appropriateness for implementation throughout the Organisation.

Perform background research into emerging technologies to advise on appropriateness for Organisation use.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Provide infrastructure support to ensure high availability, security and usability of the data and voice network that is transparent to users.

To assist in the development of the data and voice network in line with the Organisation policies.

Maintenance of networked systems and, where appropriate, resolve or assist in troubleshooting any problems with those systems.

 

To assist with the installation of cabling throughout all of the Organisation sites.

To document data and voice network infrastructure as it is developed and maintained.

 

To provide support to assist in the resolution of service desk incidents to agreed service levels.

To participate in the out of hours on-call rota.

 

Communications and Relationships

Provide and receive complex information;

 

Communicates complicated, difficult to explain IM&T issues to non IM&T staff/suppliers.

 

To liaise with suppliers and peers on complex technical issues to ensure a successful resolution.

 

A friendly professional and co-operative approach to all users is required when providing support.

 

Liaise with other ORGANISATION organisations with regard to provision of shared network services and set standards for such use.

 

To act as a technical advisor on issues.

 

 

To report faults to third party support companies and work with them to produce an effective solution.

 

Analytical and Judgmental Skills:

Range of facts and situations requiring analysis.

Analyse information to identify and resolve a range of network related problems using diagnostic information and network monitoring tools.

 

Planning & Organisational Skills:

Plan and organise activities or programmes.

 

Plan changes to Telephony systems ensuring minimum disruption
