5.Develop functional and technical specification documentation

 

6.Advise on best practice in  web development, integrations and content management frameworks especialy geared towards a corporate intranet.

 

7.Provide guidance and on the job technical handover to technical users and developers

 

8.Provide end user support and training for the legacy SharePoint 2010 platform until it is retired and turned off.

 

9.Work with the Intranet business owners to gather and assess business requirements

 

10.Work to tight deadlines managing time efficiently

 

11.Record and report progress accurately during the update project, escalating any issues as appropriate

 

12.Conduct testing of changes, this may include technical, accessibility, usability and user acceptance testing

 

13.Ensure that all online applications meet required usability and accessibility guidelines

 

14.Assist in the evaluation of web-based solutions and implement chosen products/systems .  Research and recommend third party open source tools to solve a business need.

 

15.Research, identify good practice and share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider Digital team both developers and non-developers.

 

16.Regularly present show and tell to the wider Digital team.

 

17.Potentially take part in 2nd line support for the intranet including occasional out of office hours.

Qualification

 

Educated to degree level in relevant subject such as computer science with web development element or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area

 

Postgraduate or professional qualification or equivalent experience in web technologies

 

Knowledge and experience

 

Experience as defined by type/level (not length)

 

Experience of large/complex  open source CMS based web site or intranet including the following:

 

• Transparent and simplified content creation, editing and publishing. Consistent branding with templates and layout.

 

Content targeting, audience targeting, categorization and recommendation Business process management with workflows and experience with building custom modules that automate business processes. Streamlined integrations with other enterprise back office systems. Enhanced social collaboration features Experience of building and customising responsive site themes and templatesReporting,  business intelligence and web analytics

 

•Integration with search services such as Apache Solr, Lucene or Elastic Search.

Plays a critical role in the delivery of the intranet including business as usual service and improvements, and change programme to digitise back office processes.    The postholder will have experience in designing, developing and customising web based applications that are adapted for a corporate intranet and usable across desktop browsers and mobile devices.  

1. Enhance and further develop the corporate intranet solution into a more sociable and collaborative environment driven by clear user needs and adheres to the digital by default service standards.

 

2. Develop and customise intranet-based solutions with social tools that will help to organise, structure, find and re-use content with an easy to use web interface across web and mobile devices.

 

3.  Develop custom features leveraging on available open source modules for social networking, feeds & aggregation and enterprise grade search engine.  Some custom features will be novel, challenging and unique

 

4. Develop front end features that are responsive, accessible,  highly usable and with interactive features that engage users and help staff to find reasons to use the intranet.
