Job Description Finance Controls Specialist

Job Summary

The Finance Service Delivery Team are key to delivering an integrated, sustainable, high quality service for the management of Finance Systems. The Core Finance Systems estate comprises all applications and infrastructure operated by the finance outsource provider and also includes specific SAP BI and Performance Management applications (SAP BPC, PCM and Data Services).

Controls and Compliance

 Will work with Finance to support a risk-based approach to the Risk & Assurance environment within systems used by the Finance community and within the Finance Outsourcer

 Provide support to risk and compliance reporting requirements

 Working with key stakeholders to provide control impact assessments on process changes specifically relating to process changes where roles and authorisations are present

Professional qualifications

 

 Essential - Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification) with

relevant Audit and Controls experience

 Working with the business and external providers to critically assess internal and external audit reports, agree appropriate remedial activity, and assist the business with timely resolution

 

 Pro-actively identify areas where system controls and processes can be improved, strengthening and enhancing the control environment

 Facilitate self-development by identifying and meeting own skill development needs and future career opportunities with the support of superiors

 

 Facilitate collaboration between team members through sharing information, collaborating on decision making, and taking mutual responsibility for the work of the team

 

 Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal control mechanisms (including Safety and Diversity Policy), thus promoting an efficiency driven culture

 

 Undertake such other duties and tasks as may lie within the scope of this post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service

The team also supports the delivery of key business processes including Purchase to Pay (P2P), Record to Report (R2R) and Order to Cash (O2C) to business stakeholders (e.g. Procurement).  

 

The Finance Controls Specialist has a key role in the delivery of a robust control environment that reduces reputational, security, process and data protection risks that could potentially expose the organisation to errors, financial loss, and/or inappropriate transactions and activities.
