Information Management and Technology Trainer will be responsible for the delivery of all IM&T training programme requirements throughout the organisation.  They will also be responsible for providing day-to-day support to system users and for delivering timely, accurate and understandable training for any informatics applications and any associated projects

Knowledge, Training and Experience




•Experience of training on IM&T systems

•Experience of training a range of IM&T related programmes

•Experience in developing, designing and tailoring training materials to engage learners and meet agreed programme learning objectives.




•Expert knowledge regarding the use of Microsoft Office applications

•Excellent knowledge and understanding regarding identifying and managing training needs

•Excellent knowledge and understanding regarding the Data Protection Act


Skills and Abilities


•Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels

•An adaptable and flexible approach to work

•An ability to make judgements and provide advice on all matters regarding training.

•Ability to deliver clear, concise training and presentations on a range of IM&T related programmes

•Ability to work with minimum supervision

Free Job description IM&T Trainer

Training Responsibilities


•Develop and provide expert advice on training and development issues relating to the specific areas within the applications and multiple related programmes.  


•Work closely with the relevant project managers to design training programmes to implement the various applications, encompassing awareness training and new business processes.


•To aid the development be responsible for a complete training needs analysis.


•To provide delivery of training to administrative staff and corporate services for new deployments with regards to training requirements, to tailor all training plans offered and to support the business processes being deployed.


•Design training programmes, in conjunction with project managers, to implement the various applications.  These programmes could be awareness training, new business processes, and training based on system updates.


•To develop a full training catalogue and promote the programme throughout the organisation.


•To develop all training materials such as supporting Information, training plans including the development of bespoke training materials for each application, always ensuring it is tailored for local use.  


•To manage and maintain full training schedules, and register of attendance.


•To develop and manage a complete training evaluation process. Use the feedback from training sessions to enhance the structure of the training session and the relevance of training materials.


•To create documentation standards across the Informatics training team and ensure that these are met by all team members in every situation.




To be responsible for the maintenance of all training applications.


•To support in the testing requirements of new and existing applications to ensure fit for purpose.




•To manage training and support requests ensuring that informatics SLA requirements are met.












Corporate Responsibility


•To ensure that the training programmes are aligned with the objectives and strategic direction


•Represent the IM&T directorate when required and always in a professional manner.


•Support in the development and implement relevant training policies


•Deputise for the IM&T Training Manager as required, on issues at corporate, local and regional levels.




•To manage the provision of general user support whether this is by verbal or written.

•Work within organisational and professional policies and procedures.  Operate on own initiative taking advice from manager if required.




•Analyse the interdependencies between the different IT systems and be able to communicate this in a straight forward manner to other staff


•Analyse how to convey complex new IT processes in a non-technical way to facilitate the engagement of learning


•Be a champion of all systems, ensuring that benefits are realised.


•Liaise with services around all aspects of training, including communicating complex data.


•Chair both regular and ad-hoc meetings as required.


•Produce written documentation of a professional standard for both internal and external use.

•Remain up to date with trends in mental health that may have an impact on systems training.


•Keep abreast of developments in the Information Management and Technology field,


•Participate in an annual review and any identified learning activities.


•To engage in regular supervision and the annual review process.
