IT Technical Engineer job description

Responsible for providing IT technical support services to organisation and its Customers.  The post will have considerable contact with the users, both face-to-face and via the telephone.

The post holder will be required to act independently within appropriate guidelines, deciding when it is necessary to refer to their line manager.

 

The post holder will be required to use a combination of IT and field experience to communicate technical ideas to users on how the problem can be resolved.

 

Provide remote assistance to satisfactorily resolve the issue or agree a suitable time to provide field support.

 

 

The post holder will be required to investigate problems to identify and resolve a wide range of incidents e.g. hardware errors, user or software problems, network issues, they will be expected to analyse and discover complex hardware problems to enable resolution within the specified SLA.

 

 

The post holder will be required undertake project work to deploy new PC’s/Operating systems and technology to end users satisfaction.

 

The post holder will be required to use various tools (both hardware and software based…) for tasks such as dismantling, repairing and modifying devices such as printers and computers, often replacing complex parts/components such as motherboards, power supplies etc… requiring highly accurate physical hand/eye coordination to complete the task and prevent damage of sensitive equipment

 

The Post holder will be required to keep accurate records of all equipment assets installed, replaced or scrapped, to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.

The post will carry out testing/modification and adaptation of IM&T systems

 

Responsible for configuration of IT hardware and software.

 

Installation of systems including working on own, contacting relevant people from internal/external organisations to obtain technical information of a complex manner.

 

The post will also liaise with colleagues and will also work with various external contractors and system suppliers (Emis, ISOFT, TPP etc.)

Experience
