MANDATORY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
•Experience with web services (e.g. RESTful services), including the ability to programmatically interact with data formats that may include XML, JSON and RDF
•Proficient with styling and applying design to web pages using CSS, including the use of CSS3 techniques.
•Experience with writing software for complex web-based business applications which makes use of client-side data capture, validation and presentation
•Understanding of major browsers and browser development tools
•Working knowledge of version control systems (e.g. SVN, Git)
•Experience of supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by others
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
•Knowledge and experience of working with Java developers some of the following: server side technologies including JSP, Java and web application frameworks such as Apache Struts or Spring Webflow
•Experience in tuning and optimising code
•Experience of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
•An understanding of web accessibility issues and standards
•Proficient at implementing cross-browser solutions on large-scale web applications
•Experience and a good understanding of how to work effectively in an Agile environment
•Experience using continuous integration as an integral part of a project
•An ability to apply structured thinking and simplify complex problems
•Demonstrable experience using client side technologies
•Effective communication and interpersonal skills to be able to establish rapport with people at all levels
•An eye for detail and accuracy
•The ability to work in teams as well as on your own
•Take a proactive approach to work without close supervision
•Ability to quickly acquire new skills and to work with new technologies and tools with little support
•Be able to develop reusable libraries, APIs and code that is easy to maintain, understand and re-use
•To work closely with Development Manager to implement technical solutions that meet business needs
•To work with the Java development team to deliver a clean, efficient and robust separation of client and middle tiers
•To write comprehensive unit and functional tests to ensure code quality across all supported browser platforms
•Learn new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies and be able to apply these to build a better product
