Knowledge, Training and Experience

Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of 1 years’ PQE, in a department specialising in employment law.

 

Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in employment law.

 

Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment

 

Evidence of continued professional development

 

Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement

 

Member of relevant professional

 

Communication Skills

Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required

 

Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders

 

Analytical

Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.

 

Demonstrated capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making

 

Numerate and able to understand complex financial issues combined with deep analytical skills

Take a lead in the coordination of training, development and recruitment activity across the Team

Devise and provide improvements to current management information, analysing, reporting and suggesting procedures to enhance decision making processes.

 

Drafting reports summarising status on issues, appraising outcomes, and providing progress reports for the Head of Department.

 

Ensure timely and accurate input of information onto the claim management system, providing analysis and reporting to management on agreed areas of work.

 

Contribute to the development of key performance indicators for the successful assessment of individual and workstream success

 

Undertake aspects of Research and Development activities, collating information, analysing and reporting findings

Contribute to the development and achievement of the overall legal priorities which reflect organisational goals.

 

Act as the first point of contact for all employment related legal matters and case preparation, acting in legal proceedings.

 

Provide early advice on the merits and need to seek to specialist advice on employment related legal matters.

 

Liaising with external panel and legal advisors as necessary.

 

Develop strong relationships throughout the business using own knowledge to shape flexible strategic legal solutions to complex situations.

 

Monitor and manage the advice given to the organisation and identifies trends and consistent issues.
