Free job description Treasurer
Provides accurate and timely financial information to the Board of Directors. Oversees Finance Committee. Manages the board's review of and action related to the board's financial responsibilities. Must conduct and monitor financial matters in an ethical and professional manner utilizing financial accounting best practices.
Manage Affiliate’s Investment portfolio with Finance Committee.
Ensure basic Standards of Accounting Principles for Nonprofit Organizations are observed and annually reviewed.
Ensure required documents are filed each year in accordance with the Treasurer’s Guide
Work with staff and Finance Committee in development of the annual budget.
Submit annual budget for board approval in order to meet Headquarter Budget deadlines.
Approve AP transactions weekly online (approx. 10 minutes/week)
Attend 1-day Treasurer Training once every two years
Work with staff to ensure reports are properly filled out and submitted to our Financial Analyst at Headquarters .
Ensure year-end reporting is completed for headquarters’ tax form 990 submission and complete any other IRS required documents for year-end.
Pull standard monthly reports from PeopleSoft ( accounting software)
Performs other responsibilities assigned by the Board.
Understand and comply with all requirements as outlined in the Treasurer’s Guide.
Prepare and present Treasurer’s report at board meetings, including financial report analysis, especially balance sheets, and income and expenditures for both current month and year-to-date, and budget-to-actual comparisons.
Serve as Chair of the Finance Committee that meets monthly.
Oversee and annually evaluate and update the Affiliate accounting and financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Policies per the Treasurer’s guide.
