Job Summary-Job description VizRT/Real-time Graphics Developer

Using 3D software ( including real time packages) such as VizRT & Maxon Cinema 4D,  you will be part of a team that specialises in  programming, building, templateing and updating graphics for the full range of core and non-core output

You will assist others to seek scripted/programmed solutions to VizRT (Real-time) issues where appropriate.

 

Assist in delivering interactive solutions for touchscreens and gesture driven interfaces.

 

Assist in delivering Virtual and Augmented Reality design solutions.

 

Assist in developing and delivering automation for graphics systems where appropriate.

 

The role will liaise with the Creative Management Team, Editorial Colleagues, News Motion Designers, UX, UI & Editorial Designers and other VizRT Specialists within your team to maximise VizRT potential across all platforms.

 

Respond and develop skills across programmes & platforms in response to changing business and technical needs as a part of the VizRT team.

 

The role will support & complement all areas of VizRT development and use in both planning and day to day operations.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

Experience of Visual Basic scripting.

 

Experience of working with graphics.

 

Knowledge of other scripting languages.

 

Technical understanding of digital media.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge of data fed graphics within a graphic environment.

 

Knowledge of data and metadata storage

.

Understanding of design formats within a 3D package and the technical requirements for effective project distribution across multiple platforms.

 

Knowledge of HD production and technical standards.

 

Knowledge of Video Codecs within Windows and Mac.

 

Able to communicate technical necessities and standards to design teams.

 

Demonstrate a high standard of editorial awareness

 

Demonstrate an understanding of visual language and graphic design

 

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels.

 

Candidates must have experience of design packages, such as: Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and After Effects, Cinema 4D (or a comparable 3D/CG package).

 

Ideally candidates would have experience of creating and templating within the VizRT suite of software, particularly: VizScript, VizArtist, Template Wizard, Content Pilot, VizTrio, Media Sequence Engine, Template Manager.

 

The above list is not comprehensive but serves to illustrate the extent of resources, which could be used in a single production.

To work with the VizRT Development  team, to template and update both lower-third and full form graphics for use across the organisation

 

To use scripting within VizRT to create innovative and effective solutions, including touchscreens, VR and AR

 

To work on both short-turnaround and long-term projects as and when required.

 

To work in any area of the department, or undertake a shift pattern as required by the business need. (This will include public holidays, weekend and night shift work).

 

To work with the design team to maximise creativity and quality of design within VizRT.

 

To understand the editorial agenda and with colleagues respond by developing and highlighting opportunities for VizRT use in a collaborative environment.

 

To respond to breaking news by building models & scenes within VizRT Artist.

 

With colleagues build a library of images and animations to support breaking news and on-the-day storytelling.

 

Work closely with other areas within the Creative Management Team to ensure the system is operationally and technically robust.

 

With colleagues trouble shoot, replicate, diagnose and fix system related bugs.

 

To take responsibility for developing programming skills and technical knowledge of systems.
