SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience of managing a Release Function in a demanding and complex environment
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and to communicate clearly with a range of people at different levels of the organisation, including the ability to liaise, explain and discuss complex issues using a range of tools, styles and techniques
Demonstrable understanding of the pressures and demands of a fast-moving, complex environment
Demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and co-ordinate own and team activities
Experienced in translating business strategy and objectives to enable identification and prioritisation of technology services
Knowledge and experience of ITIL Service Management good practice, particularly Release Management
Ability to estimate risk of potential business impact from minimal data
Proven ability to persuade and influence others using a variety of communication styles
Experience of working with complex multi system, multi site environments
Ability to facilitate meetings and manage any conflicts to an acceptable resolution
Able to run projects to recognised project methodologies and practices
Experience of documenting process and procedures

Free Job description Release Manager
Create and manage the unified Release Management processes and policies, ensuring continual improvement and compliance with DQ policy
Publish and maintain Release Management Procedures and policy to the Tech Ops website
Responsible for ensuring Release Management processes and policies are understood and upheld internally by other teams and by external suppliers
Developing standard performance measures and measurement methods across projects and suppliers
Work directly with System Specialists and Technical Experts to define Release packages, including accurate documentation of all service assets and technical components. All aligned to patterns of business activity.
Define Release deployment models e.g. Automation or manual, Pilots, remote deployment, 3rd party coordination and phased roll outs by working closely with Specialists and Technical staff
Responsible for ensuring that new desktop and server software releases, broadcast equipment and all associated hardware, are ready for release into the production environment.
Maintaining the list of critical applications for operational and champion user testing.
Ensures defined acceptance criteria with support groups and business stakeholders for each release are met
Ensures User Acceptance Tests(UATs), Installation Verification Tests (IVTs) and workflows recording the output are created and managed
Responsible for reviewing test plans and test cases
Provide direct input into decisions to procure software testing tools
Develop, maintain and manage the Release Management tool(s) ensuring all data is accurate, relevant, and accessible
Ensure the full rollout of each release is managed and meets all success criteria
Work with key Operational and Frontline Staff such as Business Analysts, Systems Specialists, Development Teams and Service Managers to coordinate scheduling, planning and testing activities
Act as an interface and arbitrate where necessary between support, the business and service providers to manage the Release schedules
‘Go to’ point for all Release Management issues
Produce and publish release documentation, ensuring quality and accuracy
Responsible for ensuring operations management provide appropriate resource levels for each release, agreeing on roles and responsibilities, ensuring detailed release plans are produced
Change & Configuration Management
Ensure the Change Management Team is informed of any Release activity in the live environment and that the relevant change requests relating to releases are raised.
Attend the Change Advisory Board (CAB) when appropriate to represent Release Management for any planned activities providing approvals for release implementation when acceptable criteria have been met
Provide the wider CCR Team with the data to update the CMDB following any rollouts or upgrades
Ensure effective service management by governing and checking that processes used are continuously improve
Develop and maintain a range of performance measures producing reports to regularly monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of Release Management
Actively engages with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management within the business, suppliers and Tech Ops support teams
Responsible for communicating and managing expectations during the planning and roll out of releases
Ensures timely and appropriate communication with involved parties.
Responsible for engaging with support, and the business stakeholders and 3rd party suppliers to understand Release roadmaps to aid production of resource and rollout plans
Attend 3rd Party Provider & Supplier Release Management roadmap meetings and forums as appropriate
Create a Release Roadmap to document a Forward Schedule of all Releases affecting Tech Ops
