Job Summary-Safety Systems job description

To undertake the day-to-day management, administration and user support of Safety business information systems, ensuring accessibility, data accuracy, security and integrity.


To manage system updates and changes including acceptance testing, quality control and change management.


Manage designs, development and implementation of information systems including online tools, mobile apps (IOS and Android), information sites and electronic information sources.


To work closely with managers and the wider Safety Team to identify deficiencies in existing systems through continued assessment and analysis and to make appropriate

recommendations as necessary.


To provide professional support, advice and liaison with regard to the purchase and development of IT systems, and data management.


To define development requirements, manage system development and take responsibility for their delivery, ensuring appropriate use of project management methodologies, budgetary controls technologies, and taking full advantage of industry developments and existing systems.


To ensure all data management complies with data protection requirements.


To provide technical support to the Safety Advice line as appropriate.


To provide support to the Safety Policy and Compliance team as appropriate Business Continuity (BC) Responsibilities


Be the BC Plan holder for the Safety, Security and Resilience teams.


To ensure the Plan is rehearsed, updated and reflects changing business requirements.


To ensure that lessons learned from rehearsals are incorporated into the plan.


To liaise with other related or dependent Plan holders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Safety Systems job description

Experience of initiating and delivering business information systems, development projects and service

propositions within a technically complex environment involving multiple stakeholders.


The ability to analyse business processes and systems, draw conclusions and produce supporting

documentation including the development of user requirements and specifications.


Experience of working with recognised technology standards and able to understand, interpret and

communicate technical information and specifications and assess technical proposals in response to

user requirements.


Experience of management and development of systems and applications including understanding of

the benefits of agile development techniques, information system architecture, user engagement and

user acceptance testing.



Experience of managing service delivery contracts.


Experience of financial responsibility and budgeting for managing projects with an Understanding of

business and financial systems and processes.


Sound understanding of risk management, particularly in the context of business information system

design and implementation.


Resilience and stamina to sustain performance when under pressure from a high volume of work and

conflicting priorities.


Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective working relations

with a wide range of internal and external contacts. The ability to work independently and as an integral

part of a small team.

The key purpose of this role is to provide technical management of Corporate Safety management and

information systems including online tools, information sites, and other systems and electronic information resources and to manage their continued development and implementation.


Specifically the role will


-manage the technical maintenance and development of Corporate Safety Information Systems


-manage the day to day implementation of new and developed components


-project manage the development, delivery and implementation of changing and additional requirements


-hold the Business Continuity Plan for the Safety, Security and Resilience teams
