To maximise box office sales and income and to motivate the sales team. To ensure theatre sales function operates to a high level of efficiency and quality

Person Specification:

Essential: 3 years’ sound knowledge and experience in a sales/telesales/box office environment

Working knowledge of various software packages including Windows, Artifax, Patron Edge or other box office systems

Experience of staff supervision and ability to motivate a sales team

Excellent customer services skills

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work on own initiative

Good attention to detail

Flexible approach

Ability to be a strong team player

Outgoing and confident personality

Ability to work with a diverse range of people

Sound numeracy skills and cash handling experience

Ability to commit to aims and objectives

Desirable: Knowledge of health and safety in relation to public buildings

General Duties:

To ensure that customers and visiting companies receive a professional welcome to the theatre

To sell tickets and/or give best advice to all our customers

To run the Box Office and deputise the day to day running of the Sales areas


To ensure data collection is accurate, maintained and updated constantly

To deal effectively and efficiently with customer problems and complaints


To provide cover for external box office duties where necessary

To provide emergency cover for box office/reception duties as necessary

To provide prompt and efficient answer and transfer of all incoming reception calls


To cash up and ensure accurate reconciliation of sales at the end of each shift

To work in collaboration with the Data Manager

To participate in the marketing, creative sales and customer care initiatives

To participate in departmental and team meetings

To ensure the Front of House, Box Office and reception areas are kept clean and tidy and presentable

Specific Duties:

To devise and implement specific sales campaigns for shows, .i.e. Christmas productions

To take a proactive approach to achieve or exceed box office income targets


To maintain a secure system of operation, collating, checking and recording all data and income records

To ensure that box office policies are monitored and adhered to

To accurately reconcile sales at the end of each day and be responsible for the banking of takings


To develop and monitor sales of merchandise/programmes

To be responsible for stock management and control


To work with the Communications Team in the creation of sales schemes, public relations and customer care strategies, and be responsible for ensuring that all relevant sales and financial reports are prepared as required.
