The SAP Finance consultant provides technical expertise to SAP developments and his/her role is crucial at the early stages of a project to bring clarity to the technical solution by which business requirements will be delivered. He/she is also involved later on guiding the development to ensure that the project is implemented according to the technical vision.
The role also involves day to day user support and a system testing.
1. To undertake technology assessments of possible solutions belonging to the SAP suite and related technologies.
2. To challenge and QA solutions presented by external partners
3. To design and clearly document well designed reusable SAP Financials solutions.
4. To conduct system configuration and unit testing
5. To support user acceptance testing
6. To adhere to departmental development standards for all activities.
7. To provide support through all phases of development to ensure the original vision and architecture is adhered to.

a) JOB CONTEXT
The SAP Finance consultant works alongside the SAP Development Manager to define the functionality and design for a piece of work, possibly handling multiple pieces of work simultaneously. They must work with the development team as well as with outside consultants and be able to communicate effectively with customers.
b) PROBLEMS FACED
Core problems for the Finance Consultant are the need to ensure that defined systems are robust and cost effective and that they meet business requirements within the constraints of departmental policy and strategy. The Finance Consultant has a dual focus, with a view to developing the best solution for the current project, but also in understanding the strategic direction of the system and impacts of other projects.
c) PLANNING AND ORGANISATION
A Finance Consultant should be able to organise their time effectively on a daily and weekly basis.
d) DIRECTION RECEIVED
The Finance Consultant works closely with other members of the SAP team and with project and programme teams (project manager, business lead) who will set constraints and boundaries alongside the standards imposed across the department. The Finance Consultant is however expected to be able to argue their case and put forward their own points.
e) WORKING CONTACTS
A Financial Consultant should maintain good working contacts within the department and ensure they know where to find information and responsible parties within the rest of IT. Key contacts will include the other functional consultants, project managers, business analysts and business leads. They should always maintain positive customer relationships up to board level.
Candidates must be SAP certified (FICO certified)
Good experience of implementing SAP Financials in a variety of environments
A background in a consulting environment would be very beneficial
Experience in SAP implementations
Experience of ECC6 and New General Ledger
Experience in AP, AR, electronic banking
Experience in cost centre accounting, profit centre accounting, internal orders
Experience in asset accounting and project systems
The following would be beneficial:
A background in basic accountancy
Profitability analysis
SFCM, BPC and asset management investment
Good experience of working to a structured software development methodology.
Experience of dealing with SAP online support services.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
