To be responsible for the provision and maintenance, tracking and allocating of all technical equipment, and advising on their use.
Preparation of equipment.
Advise production staff in the use of Various Cameras, accessories and other technical equipment.
To be responsible for the provision of maintenance of the above equipment ensuring faults are quickly detected and rectified, and worn out stock is replaced where necessary.
To organise the day to day movement of equipment in response to productions needs, and maintain systems to ensure accurate record keeping of all aspects of the equipment.
To resolve technical questions/queries over the phone and face to face. Assist with basic camera repair and manage the process of serious repairs to equipment.
To respond to technical queries on DV, HD and Tapeless cameras and associated equipment from programme makers across the coompany.
To deal with equipment invoices, and establish and maintain suitable methods of keeping track of equipment losses in conjunction with the Manager.
To keep up-to-date on the commercial market in relation to all relevant technical developments and costs.
Able to demonstrate a full range of technical skills associated with the making of broadcast programmes including knowledge of self-op programme making.
Experience of using broadcast equipment.
Good planning and organising skills - proven ability to prioritise and use initiative as appropriate.
Experience of working to tight deadlines, often under pressure, effectively and often without close supervision.
Ability to work methodically with excellent attention to detail.
Proven ability to work in a team environment and to communicate effectively with a range of Production staff at all levels of the company.
Knowledge of associated equipment such as sound recording equipment, including (SQN and lighting) and an understanding of the responsibilities involved in the supply, maintenance, kit equipping and storage of all equipment and accessories.
Effective communication skills (both oral and written) so as to be able to impart technical information to individuals with no technical background.
Have an up to date knowledge of the commercial market.
A knowledge of the television production process, and developments in broadcasting, online and new technologies.
Knowledge of the technical standards of broadcast material.
Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the needs of Production staff.
A flexible and pragmatic approach to supporting the wider operational environment
Previous experience of working in a technical area of broadcasting.
Experience of imparting technical knowledge to non-professionals.
Experience of carrying out basic camera repairs.
A knowledge of shooting and editing techniques.
A knowledge of health and safety regulations associated with programme making and technical equipment.
A Knowledge of Risk assessments
Understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act
Experience of working within a hire shop environment
